In a swift response to a distress call, the Bauchi State Police Command said it has intercepted a stolen truck carrying goods worth over N30 million.
The incident, according to the command, occurred on April 12, 2024, when the Toro Divisional Police headquarters received reports of a theft at the Maraban Jos trailer park area in Kaduna state.
In a statement made available to media men in the state on Sunday, the stolen truck, a DAF CF 85 model, was said to be transporting 35 tons of groundnut oil from Umuahia to Kano state.
Stating that, upon receiving the distress call, the Divisional Police Officer mobilized operatives to track down the stolen vehicle.
After a thorough search operation, the stolen truck, as announced by the command, was intercepted while heading towards Bauchi state.

Adding that preliminary investigations revealed that the truck driver had left the vehicle unattended at the trailer park to take a bath. Upon returning, the driver discovered the theft and promptly reported it to the authorities.
Fortunately, the police were able to recover the stolen truck along with its valuable cargo. The suspect responsible for the theft has been apprehended and is currently in custody for questioning.
Commissioner of Police for Bauchi State, CP Auwal Musa Muhammad, according to the release, has ordered a discreet investigation into the matter by the state criminal investigation department, adding that, once the investigation is completed, the suspect will be charged accordingly.
SP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil, the Police Public Relations Officer for the Bauchi State Command, reiterated the commitment of the police force to combatting crime and ensuring the safety of citizens and their property.
