South-East Governors have sympathized with the people and Government of Imo State as well as Ndigbo over the death of the President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Professor George Obiozor.
Chairman of the South-East Governor’s Forum and Governor of Ebonyi State, Engr. David Umahi conveyed the condolences of the Forum when the leadership of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Ebonyi State Chapter paid him a Christmas homage at his Uburu Country Home, in Ohaozara Local government area on Friday.
He decried the demise of the experienced historian and administrator at a time the Igbos needed his wisdom most to surmount teething challenges.
“We have lost a cultural Leader who spent most of his life propagating the virtues of Ndigbo. We at the South East Governor’s Forum are saddened and in mourning. It is our prayer that we rise beyond this setback to achieve total peace, cultural cohesion and accelerated development in Igboland which are some of the virtues Obiozor stood for”.
Engineer Umahi while praying to God to grant the departed rest in his bosom, enjoined the family and all those directly affected by his demise to uphold the transition amidst Godly assurance of resurrection.
A one-minute silence was observed in honour of the departed.
