Controversial Nigerian singer, Habeeb Olalomi, popularly known as Portable, has turned himself in at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Yaba, after being declared wanted by the Ogun State Police Command.
“Portable just turned himself in at the SCID Yaba. We have contacted Ogun State Police Command to come pick him up,” Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, said in a statement on Wednesday.
The police had issued a warrant for his arrest following allegations that he led a violent attack on government officials in Ogun State.
According to a statement released on Monday by the command’s spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, the incident occurred on February 5, 2025, around 10:00 a.m.
The attack targeted three officials from the Ogun State Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development – TPL Onabanjo Abidemi, TPL Raymond Lateef, and TPL Ridwan Oyero Akinlesi – who were conducting an enforcement exercise in Oke-Osa, Tigbo Ilu Ota.
The officials had reportedly visited a property linked to Portable, known as Odogwu Bar, and encountered his father, who informed them that the singer was unavailable. However, shortly after, Portable allegedly arrived with a firearm and a group of nine thugs, attacking the unarmed officials. The victims sustained injuries but managed to escape and reported the incident to authorities.

Following the attack, the police arrested nine of Portable’s associates, while the singer fled and went into hiding. Repeated invitations for him to appear at the Ogun State Police Command Headquarters in Abeokuta were ignored, leading to a court order declaring him wanted.
The police had called on the public to provide information regarding his whereabouts, warning that anyone found aiding or harboring him would face legal action.
Portable’s surrender comes two weeks after nine of his associates were arraigned before a Magistrate Court in Isabo, Abeokuta, on charges including felony, assault, unlawful restriction, possession of weapons, and conduct likely to cause a breach of peace.
The defendants pleaded not guilty and were granted bail at N5 million each, with sureties registered with the Ogun State Government. The case was adjourned to March 17, 2025.
