Executive Chairman of SIFAX Group, Dr. Taiwo Afolabi, will officially unveil the maiden edition of the Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria (MWUN) in-house magazine on December 15, 2023.
Titled: The Maritime Labour Voice, the glossy, all-colour publication will be unveiled at the RockView Hotel, Apapa in Lagos at 11:00a.m. prompt.
Notable maritime industry bigwigs and top shots to support Afolabi include Dr. (Mrs.) Vicky Haastrup, who will lead the pack of other key stakeholders in the unveiling ceremony of the magazine.
The Maritime Labour Voice Magazine is expected to be yet another of the union’s major contributions to the aggregation and convergence of ideas and discussions on burning issues in the country’s maritime sector.
Afolabi, who will unveil the publication as the Chief Launcher, will be supported by other eminent key players in the Nigerian maritime sector.

President-General of MWUN, Dr. Adewale Adeyanju, who doubles as Vice President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) affirmed that MWUN remains a critical stakeholder in the sector; hence the need for the union to be heard louder, the very purpose the publication was designed to achieve.
Adeyanju also said the magazine, which is the Union’s Voice, will afford the revered Union the space for input on critical issues in the sector.
However, the Chairman of Seaports Terminal Operators (STOAN), who will be the Chairman of the event, Dr. Haastrup, will also be supported by other eminent stakeholders and other captains of the maritime industry.
Also expected at the unveiling ceremony are top government functionaries, dignitaries from all walks of life and affiliates of the NLC, while expected keynote speakers will speak on The Effects and Impact of Blue Economy on the union and entire country.
