The political tension in Abuja has taken a new twist as the legal team of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan issued a dramatic 5-day ultimatum to the Clerk of the National Assembly, demanding her immediate reinstatement.
In a letter, her lawyers warned that failure to act within the given time frame would trigger severe legal consequences. They threatened to file charges bordering on breach of the Code of Conduct and contempt of court, a move he claimed could plunge the National Assembly into deeper controversy.
The lead counsel, Chief Numa (SAN), dismissed claims that pending appeals could justify further delay. He stressed that the sanction against Senator Natasha had already expired by operation of law and should no longer be used to deny her rightful seat.
