Senator Natasha denies N200M bribery claim, slams US-Based Activist's Facebook allegations manipulated

Suspended Chairman of the Senate Committee on Diaspora and NGOs, Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Kogi Central, has firmly denied explosive allegations made against her by United States-based activist Dr. Sandra Duru, also known online as “Professor Mgbeke.” The Senator described the claims as entirely false and a calculated attempt to damage her reputation.

In a statement released on Friday, Natasha reacted to a viral Facebook livestream by Duru, aired on May 1, 2025, in which the activist alleged that the senator offered her N200 million to falsely accuse Senate President Godswill Akpabio of organ harvesting and link him to the death of a young girl. Natasha called the video manipulative, malicious, and part of a broader smear campaign allegedly orchestrated by political enemies.

“I have carefully watched a livestream done by one Sandra C. Duru on Facebook. The content, including a digitally altered voice attributed to me, is completely untrue and carefully manipulated to serve Sandra Duru’s ulterior motive of playing the script of Senator Godswill Akpabio,” Senator Natasha stated.

Refuting the audio and the derogatory statements allegedly made against figures such as Dr. Oby Ezekwesili, Dr. Abiola, FIDA, and other Nigerians as ‘useful idiots’, Natasha asserted that the words “gullible and hungry,” which were allegedly spoken by her in the broadcast, were fabrications and never originated from her in any way.

“To the best of my knowledge, those words did not come from any interaction involving me,” she said. “Recent findings also reveal that the individual now known as Sandra Duru is the same person who previously operated under the Facebook alias ‘Professor Mgbeke’, a fact that raises serious questions about credibility.”

Senator Natasha made it clear that she would provide a comprehensive response to the allegations in the near future and vowed to take necessary legal and political steps to defend her name and expose what she called a desperate plot.

The controversy, which initially began as a sexual harassment accusation between Natasha and Senate President Godswill Akpabio, has taken a dramatic twist with the involvement of Duru, who claimed to have submitted voice recordings and other “evidence” to U.S. authorities and international security agencies for forensic analysis. She also called on the Nigeria Police, the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), and other global watchdogs to investigate the matter thoroughly.

During her Facebook broadcast, Duru displayed what she claimed were audio clips of conversations with Natasha, alleging that the Senator attempted to bribe her into fabricating stories that would implicate Akpabio in a murder case and organ trafficking network. She accused Natasha of weaponizing falsehood after failing to gain traction with her sexual harassment claims.

As the scandal spirals into the global spotlight, Nigerians are watching closely, with many demanding transparency, accountability, and digital forensic proof from both sides. With international agencies now potentially involved and Senator Natasha promising a detailed rebuttal, this political drama may just be getting started.
