After a tumultuous six-month absence from the Senate, Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, who represents Kogi Central, is poised to return to her plenary duties today as the National Assembly reconvenes.
Her attorney, Victor Giwa, confirmed this, cautioning that any attempt by the Senate leadership to prevent her from entering the National Assembly complex would lead to “total chaos” and a violation of the Senate’s own resolution.
“She has completed her suspension. Blocking her entry again would be endorsing illegality,” Giwa stated.
It is important to note that the senator was suspended on March 6, 2025, due to alleged misconduct following her protest against Senate President Godswill Akpabio’s decision to reassign her seat.
Her office, located in Suite 2.05 of the Senate Wing, was sealed for several months before being reopened recently.

During her suspension, the outspoken lawmaker did not hold back, labeling Akpabio a “dictator” and asserting that she would never apologize.
“Senator Akpabio is not more of a senator than I am. He treated me as if I were a servant in his house; that’s unacceptable,” she remarked.
As the plenary session resumes today after a lengthy break, all eyes are on the Senate to see if Natasha will be permitted to take her seat or if further political turmoil will ensue.
