The gubernatorial candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Professor Muhammad Sani Yahaya, has said that the only way to sustain development for Taraba state and the country at large is through education, especially in science and technology.

He stated this in his campaign tour throughout the nooks and crannies of the sixteen local government councils of the state and the two Special Development Areas.

He vowed to make scholarships available for students spread across the state irrespective of religion, tribe or political affiliations if elected as governor.

The scholarships will encourage more young men and women to obtain higher education qualifications.

He said in order to have more students in the state qualify for admission to study science-related courses in Nigerian and foreign Universities, his administration will give more attention to the teaching of science and technical subjects in secondary schools spread across the three senatorial zones of the state.

The guber candidate urged the people of the state especially the eligible voters not to allow themselves to be deceived or distracted by those wiping religious or ethnic sentiments in canvassing for votes, said his utmost dream for the state is to catapult education to the height, stating that “if elected governor of the state I will focus more attention on lifting the standard of education at all level”

Yahaya, who is a former Vice Chancellor of the State University, said as an educationist, he will ensure that students are encouraged to study professional courses such as engineering, Medicine and computer science to mention but just a few.

The candidate who is not comfortable with the present security situation of the state also vowed to tread extra legitimate miles to cripple all the security challenges presently bedevilling if given the mandate to pilot over the affairs of the state.

Apart from the security threats confronting the state which he promised to overcome, the massive youth unemployment which the present administration has failed to address will be a thing of the past.

Yahaya also pledged to ensure fairness in the distribution of state resources through development projects in all parts of the state.

The Director of Media and Communication, Engineer Zakari Ahmad Nguroje, said based on the past record of Professor Muhammed Yahaya, the candidate is the most suitable person to lead the state.

Citing Yahaya’s numerous achievements, the blueprint of the candidate, he said that the state is geared toward rapid transformation.

He identified education, agriculture, security, industrialization, youth and women empowerment and reorganisation of the civil service as areas of focus for the candidate if elected.
