NGO to Tinubu: End financial predicament, tackle insecurity

By James Danjuma, Katsina

Nigeria’s President-elect, Bola Tinubu has been called upon to come up with a blueprint that would bring an end to the menace of banditry, terrorism and related ills in the country, especially in the north-western region of the country.

The president-elect has also been called upon to assemble a committee of experts in the economic field that would bring an end to the financial predicaments currently facing Nigerians.

The Katsina Youths Enlightenment Crusade on Peace and Development, a nongovernmental organization, stated this at a world news conference in the Katsina state capital Sunday afternoon.

Convened by a veteran journalist, Muhammad Danjuma, the organisation said there was need for Tinubu to hit the ground running when he eventually takes oath of office, by tackling insecurity and economic woes Nigerians were facing.

In addition, the group called on the president-elect to make wide consultations before giving anyone from the state, an appointment within his cabinet.

They said there was need for Tinubu to form an all-inclusive government that would promote national unity under his government.

“We hereby call on the proclaimed winner of the presidential election conducted, Alhaji Bola Ahmed Tinubu of APC to form an all-inclusive government of national unity when he assumes office come May 29, 2023.

“We urge him to also listen to the voices of building a new Nigeria including from well-meaning individuals from other political parties.

“We call on him to assemble a committee of experts in the economic field to bring to an end the financial predicaments Nigerians are facing today.

“In Katsina, Kaduna, Zamfara, Sokoto, Kebbi and Niger states, citizens are being decimated by the menace of banditry and terrorism, we hope to see a clear blueprint on how to bring it to an immediate and definite end.”
