The Chairman of Bonny Local Government Council of Rivers State, Mrs. Anengi Claude-Wilcox has declared the driver of a passenger boat wanted, over his failure to join rescue efforts to save survivors of a boat mishap on the Bonny River on Monday.
A statement signed by the Press Secretary to the council chairman, John Pepple, said Mrs. Claude-Wilcox had appealed to the general public or anyone with useful information about the boat driver to contact the local government secretary with information to arrest the boat driver.
The statement said the chairman condoled with families of those who lost their lives in the incident and cautioned travelers using the Bonny channel to always be conscious of their safety.
It was gathered that the boat with 22 passengers on board was traveling from Port Harcourt to Boony, when it capsized mid -river on Monday.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Mrs. Grace Iringe-Koko, who confirmed the incident to our correspondent, said two bodies had been recovered while efforts were on to recover the third person who she said is a child.
She said the 19 other passengers are hale and hearty in stable condition, adding that the state Commissioner of Police, Olugbenga Adepoju, on being informed about the incident, dispatched personnel from the marine unit of the command to the scene to assist in rescue efforts.
Iringe-Koko said investigation was still ongoing to unravel the cause of the accident.
