Residents of Mullah Hyema in Hong Local Government Area of Adamawa state, have issued an urgent appeal to the State and well meaning individuals to intervene in the ongoing neglect of the Mullah Hyema road, a critical infrastructure project they say has been left incomplete.
In a statement released by community members, the residents lamented the deplorable condition of the road, which they say has hindered economic activities, social development, and access to essential services for years. Despite volunteer efforts to maintain the road, the situation remains dire.
The community recalled that governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, during his campaign tour on December 10, 2022, pledged to construct the road from Kala’a to Hyema.
However, they expressed disappointment that the construction halted at Kwakwa’ah, leaving the remainder of the route in poor condition.

Demonstrating a strong spirit of self-help, the residents recently pooled resources to build two culverts along the route. Nevertheless, they stressed that community efforts alone are insufficient to complete the project.
The community urged the state government to resume the road construction project from Kwakwa’ah to Hyema, allocate adequate funding for the project’s completion, and collaborate with community leaders to ensure the project meets local needs.
They also appealed to individuals and organizations to support the effort through donations or partnerships to facilitate the road’s completion.
“We believe that collective action can make a significant difference in our community’s development,” the statement concluded, calling for swift intervention to alleviate the challenges posed by the deteriorating road.
