The Minority Caucus in the House of Representatives has condemned the recent attacks on Woro and Nuku communities in Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State, that claimed the lives of 75 persons and led to the destruction of several houses and other properties.
The caucus described the attacks as “heinous and senseless,” lamenting that about half of the affected villages were razed by armed terrorists.
In a joint statement signed by the Minority Leader, Rep. Kingsley Chinda; Minority Whip, Ali Isa J.C; Deputy Minority Leader, Aliyu Madaki; and Deputy Minority Whip, George Ozodinobi, the lawmakers expressed deep concern over the worsening state of insecurity across the country.
They called for an immediate and thorough probe into the killings, while also raising concerns about the alleged failure of security agencies to prevent the attacks.
“The caucus is deeply saddened and heartbroken that these outlawed felons carried out such horrendous attacks on the two villages in the most senseless and vicious manner,” the statement read.
The caucus further alleged that security operatives arrived at the affected communities about 10 hours after the attackers had completed their operation, despite prior alerts about the planned attacks.

“We are extremely worried that the security agencies were alerted about the planned attacks, yet no concrete strategies were put in place to protect lives and property,” the lawmakers said.
The minority caucus urged the federal government, through relevant authorities, to carry out a comprehensive investigation to unravel the circumstances surrounding the attacks and ensure the arrest and prosecution of those responsible.
The lawmakers also expressed alarm over what they described as a resurgence of violent attacks in Benue and Katsina states, as well as other parts of the country.
“These relentless killings and maiming of our citizens, including women, children and the elderly, have become a national disaster that requires deliberate and intentional actions by the authorities,” the statement added.
They called on the Federal Government to fulfil its primary responsibility of protecting lives and property, while assuring Nigerians that the caucus would pursue necessary legislative measures aimed at addressing the country’s security challenges.
