Real Madrid thrashed Real Sociedad at the Santiago Bernabeu to go 8-points clear from second-placed Sevilla on the La Liga table.
In an explosive game, the host team conceded a penalty 10 minutes into the first half after former Manchester City midfielder, David Silva, was brought down by Carvajal. Real Sociedad did not waste the ample opportunity as Mikel Oyarzabal slotted the ball past Thibaut Courtois.
Madrid, dominating the pitch, kept the pressure on Real Sociedad just to get their first goal.

In the 40th minute, Madrid’s dominance paid off as Eduardo Camavinga received a 35-yard pass from Croatian Luka Modric and converted it to a goal through a thunderous strike from outside the box.
Before the end of the first half, Modric doubled the lead through an impeccable strike in the 43rd minute from an assist provided by Karim Benzema.
The second half continued with the host team dominating the entire play.
Regardless, Madrid, who play host to Paris Saint-Germain on Wednesday in the UEFA Champions League round of 16 second-leg at the Santiago Bernabeu, did not relent against Real Sociedad.
As the game proceeded, Madrid got the third in the 76th minute through a penalty by Karim Benzema to record his 20th La Liga goal for the season.
Marco Asensio came in as a substitute for Rodrygo after 76 minutes also got his name on the scoresheet two minutes later to make it 4-1 for Los Blancos.
In a post-match interview, Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelloti asserted that the team played one of the best games of the season.
He said, “We played almost a perfect game. It could be our best game of the season.
“We go into the PSG game with a lot of confidence and hope. In our stadium, we’ll give our best. I don’t know if that will be enough, I think so.
“It’s a game that will give us a lot of hope for the next game on Wednesday. That’s the intensity we have to have, that’s the intensity the fans like. It’s the kind of game where the fans help you to do your best. Yes, I think we can repeat it,” he added.
Madrid look to the game against PSG on Wednesday who defeated them in the first leg of the UEFA clash by a lone goal.
