Police rescue kidnap victims, arrest suspects, recover arms, drugs in Delta By Gabriel Elozino The Delta State Police Command has intensified its crackdown on criminal networks, rescuing kidnapped victims, arresting suspected offenders, and recovering firearms, illicit drugs, and ransom money in a series of coordinated operations across the state. Speaking during the command’s first quarter press briefing in Asaba, the Commissioner of Police, Yemi Oyeniyi, said the successes were driven by intelligence-led policing and collaboration with other security agencies. He disclosed that operatives rescued multiple kidnap victims in separate operations, including two women freed during a joint police-military raid on a hideout along the Obulu-Uku power line. “Our operatives engaged the suspects in a gun duel and successfully rescued the victims unhurt,” he said, noting that three members of the syndicate were neutralised. In another operation in Issele-Uku, the police, working with local vigilantes and hunters, rescued three kidnapped persons and recovered an AK-47 rifle after a fierce encounter with suspected kidnappers. The police boss further revealed the arrest of suspected members of a kidnapping syndicate terrorising commuters along the Ughelli–Warri Road. The arrests led to the recovery of an AK-47 rifle loaded with 36 rounds of live ammunition. On armed robbery, Oyeniyi said two suspects were apprehended in a joint operation with the Imo State Police Command. The suspects were intercepted in Owerri with 17 stolen phones and laptops linked to robbery incidents in Asaba and Okpanam. The command also uncovered a disturbing case of human trafficking and organ harvesting. According to the him, two female suspects were arrested after a 19-year-old victim, alleged she was trafficked to Ivory Coast, where her womb was removed without her consent. “Medical examination confirmed the victim’s claim. Investigation is ongoing,” he said. In its anti-drug operations, the police intercepted suspected cocaine concealed in energy-saving bulbs, along the Onicha-Ugbo/Ewohimi Road. About 490 grams of the substance and other illicit drugs were recovered from a vehicle heading to Abuja. Oyeniyi added that the command had charged 455 cases to court between January and April 2026, with 205 already concluded. He reaffirmed the command’s commitment to professionalism and warned criminal elements to steer clear of Delta State, stressing that the police would sustain aggressive operations against kidnapping, drug trafficking, and other crimes. The commissioner of police also urged residents to provide credible information to security agencies, assuring that collective efforts remain key to maintaining safety and order across the state.

US singer and reality TV personality Ray J has ignited widespread reactions, after making a bold claim about his past relationships, saying the number of women he has been involved with has reached 12,500.

Speaking during a recent interview with former NFL quarterback Cam Newton, the 45-year-old entertainer born William Ray Norwood Jr. revisited an earlier statement from November 2025, when he said the figure stood at 1,000.

In the latest discussion, however, Ray J dramatically revised the number upward.

“I had a party when I reached 10,000,” he said. “We had a celebration to mark my 10,000th. It’s a little bit more now.”

He emphasized that the figure referred to individual partners rather than the number of encounters.

“It’s not about how many times it’s about different people,” he explained. “It’s at 12,500 now.”

The singer also claimed that during tours, his lifestyle could involve meeting multiple partners daily, adding that others in the industry may have even higher numbers.

The comments have triggered mixed reactions across social media, with many questioning the accuracy of the claims, while others criticised the openness of the disclosure.

The remarks come months after Ray J revealed health concerns earlier in the year, including a hospitalisation linked to pneumonia and heart-related complications.
