Marcus Rashford has been dropped from the list of England players invited by coach Gareth Southgate to play friendly marches in preparation for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
Rashford, who played for the Three Lions in the last EURO tournament where he missed a penalty in the finals against Italy, has not had a good footballing performance this season having fallen below the pecking order in the Manchester United attack.
While the United player has been dropped from the England squad, Southgate invited four Arsenal players into the fold to partake in the two upcoming England friendlies taking place later this month with Switzerland and Cote D’Ivoire The Trumpet gathered.
Rashford’s performance this season has been below satisfactory, continuing with a horrendous outing in the game against Atletico Madrid in the Champions League tie that saw Manchester United defeated 1-0 in Old Trafford to crash out of the tournament.
The United forward practically missed easy balls and committed fouls unnecessarily to hand possession to the Spanish team without executing the tactical instruction of Ralf Rangnick, thus, Anthony Elanga’s 67th-minute substitution with Rashford was inconsequential in the game.

Meanwhile, the 2022 FIFA World Cup is about eight months away from kick-off, and Southgate which signed a contract extension last year November is preparing the team ahead of the event with friendly games already slated to take place at Wembley Stadium this month.
Football analysts have ticked England to excel in the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, despite not winning any trophy of repute, after the team reached the semifinal in the 2018 World Cup and also reached the finals of the EURO competition.
