Rangers International of Enugu are prepared to rejuvenate the squad ahead of the next Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) season and have constituted a committee to that effect.
The Flying Antelopes in the last NPFL season where Rivers United emerged as champions for the first time in the club’s history, finished fifth on the log of 20, 2 points behind Kwara United on 56 points.
Consequent to finishing the season without silverware, knowing fully well the club last won the NPFL title seven years ago, the management of the club have swung into action to put modalities in place to bring back the Flying Antelopes to their glory days.
In a report by the club’s media officer, Norbert Okolie, Rangers have constituted a nine-man recruitment committee saddled with the responsibility to scout raw talents and headed by its technical director and manager, Christian Chukwu (MFR).
According to Chukwu, during the inaugural ceremony, the committee which also includes the technical adviser, Abdul Maikaba and Barrister Obinna Obuna, the secretary of the committee, should for no reason compromise
on getting quality products.
“This is a ritual we have come to be known for before the start of any season,” said the committee head.
“We have to do our best to see that we get the best possible quality players available to make the work of the coaches easier towards realizing our set target at the end of the season.

“I know it won’t be an easy task as we will have to extend our search into the hinterland to see if we can get any ‘Raw Diamond’ that can be polished into a finished product for the team,” Chukwu added.
Rangers technical director and manager, highlighting that coach Maikaba has spotted some players to add to his squad, admonished the committee to exploit their knowledge to achieve success in the scouting campaign.
“I urged us to put on our thinking caps to come up with the best result from this exercise,” Chukwu continued.
“We know that the technical adviser has listed the players he would wish to join us for the coming season and we also know that we have some talents that have been spotted during the ended season hence, we have to work out the best set of players that will join the team for the new season,” he insisted.
Barrister Ferdinand Ugwuarua, Rangers administrative secretary, explained that the reason the committee was constituted is to get quality players that reignite the Flying Antelopes’ campaign for next season.
“This exercise is being carried out for the purpose of getting the best materials available to defend the colours of Rangers in the coming 2022/2023 football season and I believe in the calibre of people in the committee to do a good job,” he clarified.
Other members of the committee are director of recruitment, Chief Patrick Nworji, administrative secretary, Barrister Ferdinand Ugwuarua, Commissioner for Youth & Sports, Enugu state, Honorable Manfred Nzekwe, and others.
