A coalition of support groups loyal to President Bola Tinubu in Ondo State has opposed a recent directive issued by the state leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC), warning that it could hinder grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general elections.
In a joint statement signed by the coalition’s convener, Demola Ijabiyi, the coalition reaffirmed its commitment to party unity and pledged to work towards what they described as a decisive victory for Tinubu and other APC candidates in the next electoral cycle.
The coalition acknowledged the directive by the APC state publicity secretary, which requires all support groups to register with the state chapter of the party for coordination and profiling.
However, it argued that members of the alliance are already duly recognised by the party’s national secretariat in Abuja and operate in line with the party’s constitution.
According to the statement, the effectiveness of the support groups stems from their deep-rooted presence at the grassroots level, spanning communities, wards, and marketplaces across the state.
It added that attempting to centralise their activities under a single register could limit their operational flexibility.
The coalition maintained that electoral success is driven more by collaboration and active engagement than administrative procedures, urging the state leadership to prioritise consultation, joint planning, and logistical support.

Also, it cautioned against policies that could create distrust or discourage participation among loyal party supporters, especially at a time when unity is considered critical.
Reiterating its position, the coalition stated that the right to organise in support of the party is guaranteed under the APC constitution, adding that its members would continue to operate within the law while advancing the party’s objectives.
As preparations for the 2027 elections gather momentum, the alliance called on party leaders at all levels to expand political inclusion and strengthen mobilisation structures.
It emphasised that the immediate priority should remain securing Tinubu’s re-election, warning that excessive bureaucracy could undermine the party’s chances in Ondo State.
