Deputy Comptroller of female prison services, Kirikiri Lagos, has been redeployed to the Nigeria Prison Zonal office, Alagbon, a few weeks after organising a beauty pageant that produced Chidinma as the queen of the correctional facility.
Ekpendu disclosed the news of her redeployment to The Trumpet in her office on Thursday night shortly after celebrating with the inmates in the facility to show love to them and to formally mark Christmas, an annual event she usually organized for the females.
Unfortunately, the message of her redeployment was sent to her just a few hours before the kick-off of the event when guests were already coming to grace the ceremony. She, however, summoned courage and went ahead to put smiles on the faces of the female inmates, The Trumpet gathered.
Her redeployment to zonal office, Alagbon came a few days after she organized the maiden edition of a beauty pageant in the facility, an event where Chidinma, a former year three undergraduate of the University of Lagos (UNILAG), emerged as the winner and was crowned as the Queen of the female prison in Kirikiri.

Chidinma was sent to the prison for allegedly killing the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Super Television, Mr Otega last year.
The Trumpet learnt from a top prison service source that the higher authorities were not happy with the hosting of the pageant inside the female facility as put together by Ekpendu and this prompted the urgent decision to redeploy her because the video of the event had gone viral. However, all the female inmates were down on Thursday night.
The mood was so bad when the news of the redeployment of the one they call “Our Mother” came to them. Throughout the event, Ekpendu tried to use every opportunity to put a smile on the faces of the female inmates because of the long closeness and care she had for them. DCP Ekpendu came to the female prison and got it transformed.
She personally used her connections to bring in wealthy individuals who supported her to construct all the buildings inside the facilities without a dime from the government. This, she confirmed again during the chat with The Trumpet.
She, however, described the redeployment as the will of God. Those who supported the female prison with gift items distributed to the inmates included Senator Oluremi Tinubu, wife of Asiwaju Ahmed Tinubu, the Champion Family, a nongovernmental organization and Banky W and wife who supported with music. As a mark of honour, DCP Ekpendu was presented with Global Impact Award by Pastor Samuel Osague of the Outreached Hand of God Ministry during the ceremony.
