Street-pop singer Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has apologised to organisers, fans and supporters after walking out of his celebrity boxing rematch against Nollywood actor Charles Okocha.
The highly anticipated bout, staged on Friday, at the Balmoral Convention Centre, ended prematurely after Portable declined to continue following the opening round, resulting in his disqualification and handing victory to Okocha.
In a statement released on Saturday through his management, Zeh Nation/Dr Zeh, the singer expressed regret over the incident and acknowledged the disappointment caused by his decision.
“We sincerely apologise to the organisers, Balmoral Group, the entire event team, our fans, friends, family, and everyone who came out to support Portable at tonight’s celebrity boxing event,” the statement read.
The management admitted that Portable’s withdrawal had left many fans disappointed but appealed to Nigerians to respect his decision and perspective.

“We understand the disappointment caused by the outcome of the fight and by Portable’s decision to step away after the first round.
“While emotions can run high in moments like these, we respectfully ask everyone to respect his decision and perspective,” it added.
The rematch, billed as “Unfinished Business,” attracted significant attention following months of exchanges between the two entertainers.
However, the contest ended in anti-climax after Portable exited the ring before the fight could be concluded.
Despite the controversy surrounding the bout, the singer’s management thanked supporters for standing by him and reaffirmed appreciation for the encouragement he continues to receive from fans.
