The Adamawa State Police Command has finalized arrangements to guarantee a seamless celebration in Yola.
According to a statement released by the command’s spokesperson, Sulaiman Nguroje, a traffic diversion plan, he said will be implemented around the Police flyover in Yola, the state capital.
“To facilitate the smooth flow of traffic during the annual cross-over night on December 31, 2023, into the early hours of January 1, 2024, the Adamawa State Police Command announces a traffic diversion around Police flyover Yola,” stated Sulaiman Nguroje.
The statement outlined specific routes for commuters, instructing those travelling from Yola International Airport to Yola Town to divert from Fire Service Roundabout through Bekaji and the Federal Secretariat.
Similarly, those heading to Numan Road from Dougirei should follow Ribadu Square through to Target Junction, upward to Fire Service Roundabout.
The focal point of the night’s festivities and waiting is set to be the Great Interchange Flyover by the Police Headquarters.
In preparation for the event, the command emphasized the deployment of adequate security personnel, including sister security agencies, to strategic locations around the city and the event ground.

The public are advised to cooperate with security measures, keeping their vehicles away from the event area.
The statement reassured citizens of the commitment of the Adamawa State Police Command to ensuring the sustainable peace of the state.
As part of the security measures, heavy police visibility, according to him, will be observed at various traffic control points, facilitating essential activities such as stop-and-search, vehicular and foot patrols.
The command urged the public not to panic but to actively support the security agencies during this period.
The Command expressed its dedication to maintaining peace and security and called on the public to join hands in making the cross-over night celebration a safe and enjoyable experience for all.
