The suspects, identified as Mustapha Suleiman of Wuro Hausa and Rabiu Garba, 38, of Jambutu, were arrested following a complaint lodged by Aliyu Usman, who discovered that the Toyota Hilux he purchased for ₦7.5 million had been reported stolen.

Preliminary investigations by the Police revealed that the vehicle was allegedly stolen from Rivers State in June 2026 and later transported to Adamawa State by a suspect identified as Mati, who is currently at large.

According to the Police, the fleeing suspect allegedly connived with the two arrested individuals and sold the stolen vehicle to the complainant.

Upon discovering the vehicle’s stolen status, Usman promptly reported the matter to the Police. Operatives of the Adamawa State Police Command subsequently arrested the suspects, recovered the Toyota Hilux, and traced the rightful owner of the vehicle.

The Commissioner of Police, Kabiru Umar Hassan, commended the complainant for his honesty and urged members of the public to always verify vehicle ownership and documentation before making purchases.

The Commissioner further directed that efforts be intensified to arrest the fleeing suspect and ensure that all persons linked to the crime are brought to justice.

In a statement signed by the command’s Public Relations Officer, Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, the Police said investigation is ongoing, after which the suspects will be charged to court.
