“Three suspects were apprehended at the scene and remain in custody. They are expected to be charged in court following the conclusion of investigations. The State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Panti, has taken over the case on the directive of the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh, to conduct a thorough probe into the cause of the disturbance and identify all those responsible.”
CP Jimoh emphasized that the incident was not ethnically motivated, nor does it represent a threat to the peace and stability of Lagos State. “The fracas was triggered by miscreants and hoodlums who exploited the situation—not by any ethnic tensions,” he said.
Reiterating the police command’s commitment to security, CP Jimoh assured residents and visitors of Lagos that the command will continue to ensure law and order. He also urged parents and guardians to caution their children against unlawful behavior and participation in any form of public unrest.
The Lagos State Police Command called on members of the public to remain calm and continue their lawful activities without fear of intimidation or harassment.
