The Bauchi State Police Command has foiled an armed robbery operation along the Kajala-Kere Road and arrested a 35-year-old man in connection with the fatal shooting of a 13-year-old boy in Gamawa Local Government Area of the state.
The command disclosed this in a statement issued on Sunday by its spokesperson, SP Nafiu Habib.
According to the statement, the robbery incident occurred at about 9:45pm on Saturday, September 5, 2026, when suspected hoodlums armed with cutlasses and sticks blocked the Kajala-Kere Road.
The assailants reportedly dispossessed Ado and three other residents of Kere Village of two Bajaj motorcycles, two Android phones and a power bank.
Following a distress report from the officer-in-charge of the Kajala Police Outstation, a combined team of police officers from Burra Division and local vigilantes was mobilised to the scene.

The police said the suspects abandoned the stolen motorcycles and fled into the surrounding bushes after sighting the security team.
In a separate incident in Gamawa, the police arrested 35-year-old Suleiman Hamza over the death of a 13-year-old boy in what the command described as a negligent shooting.
The incident reportedly occurred at about 4:30pm on Saturday in Udubo Village.
The police said Hamza had returned from hunting and allegedly left his loaded dane gun inside his room before going out.
A 13-year-old boy identified as Mubarak Mohammed reportedly entered the room and allegedly pulled the trigger of the loaded firearm, causing it to discharge and fatally injure him.
Police detectives attached to the Gamawa Division were immediately deployed to the scene following a report. The victim was rushed to the General Hospital, Gamawa, where a doctor reportedly confirmed him dead.
His remains were released to his relatives for burial in accordance with Islamic rites after photographs were taken and preliminary procedures completed.
The police said Hamza was arrested, while the preliminary investigation had been concluded and the case transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation.
