The Katsina State Police Command has successfully thwarted a kidnap attempt in the Unguwar Sarkin Fulani Dutsen Dadi community of Faskari Local Government Area, rescuing 30 victims abducted by armed bandits in the early hours of Wednesday.
According to a statement released by the command’s Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abubakar Sadiq, the operation marks a significant breakthrough in the ongoing fight against kidnapping, and banditry in the state under the leadership of the Commissioner of Police, Aliyu Musa.
The statement revealed that the Faskari Divisional Police headquarters received a distress call at about 1:00 am on March 12, 2025, reporting that a large group of armed bandits had attacked Unguwar Sarkin Fulani Dutsen Dadi, via Tafoki Village.
The assailants were said to have kidnapped 30 residents, and rustled two cows, 92 sheep, and goats.

“Upon receiving the report, the divisional police officer of Faskari swiftly mobilized an Armored Personnel Carrier (APC) patrol team to the scene.
“The team tactically ambushed the suspected kidnappers, engaging them in a fierce gun battle that forced the bandits to flee with various degrees of injuries.
“All 30 kidnapped victims were successfully rescued unharmed, and the rustled animals were recovered. The police have launched a manhunt for the fleeing suspects as investigations continue,” the police said.
The state Commissioner of Police, Aliyu Musa, commended the officers for their professionalism, and bravery during the daring rescue operation.
He also urged residents of the state to continue cooperating with the police by providing timely, and accurate information to enable prompt and decisive action against criminal elements.
