The Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, Olufemi Abaniwonda, has ordered the immediate deployment of heavily armed tactical teams to restore peace and public confidence in Abraka, Ethiope East Local Government Area,

This decisive move comes amid mounting concerns from residents and viral reports on social media highlighting the deteriorating Abraka security situation. Armed robbery, kidnapping, and cult-related violence have reportedly spiked in recent weeks, prompting calls for urgent police intervention.

Addressing the escalating Abraka crime surge, CP Abaniwonda reiterated that “no stone will be left unturned” in the quest to safeguard lives and property in the area, according to the spokesperson of the command, Bright Edafe in a statement on Friday.

To execute this mandate, the CP directed the Deputy Commissioner of Police Operations, DCP Aina Adesola, to oversee the comprehensive deployment of tactical units. The forces mobilized include the Dragon Patrol, Safer Highway Patrol, Rapid Response Squad (RRS), and the State Anti-Cult Unit (SACU).

The command also urged residents to avoid spreading unverified reports that could fuel public panic. Instead, citizens are encouraged to report any suspicious activities through the official emergency lines.

It further advised the public to remain calm, carry on with lawful activities, and cooperate fully with law enforcement officers as operations intensify across Abraka and surrounding areas. Reiterating the force’s unwavering resolve to combat crime in Delta State, adding that “proactive and decisive policing remains our top priority.”

The statement reads in part; “In response to a recent surge in violent crimes in Abraka, Ethiope East, the Commissioner of Police, CP Olufemi Abaniwonda has deployed well-equipped tactical teams to restore peace and public confidence in the area.

“This decision follows growing concerns from residents and an influx of reports circulating across the internet and various social media platforms highlighting the deteriorating security situation in the community. The Command acknowledges the public’s anxiety and assures citizens that proactive and decisive measures are being taken.

“To this end, the CP directed the Deputy Commissioner of Police Operations, DCP Aina Adesola to supervise the deployment of tactical teams to Abraka. In compliance with this directive, deployments of combat operatives were drawn from Dragon Patrol, Safer Highway Patrol, Rapid Response Squad (RRS) and State Anti-Cult Unit (SACU). Their mandate covers day-and-night patrols, strategic checkpoints, and intelligence-driven policing to ensure that all suspected kidnappers and armed robbers carrying out these nefarious activities are arrested and brought to justice.

“The CP reaffirms and assures residents in the state of the Command’s commitment to providing security for all and ensuring that the entire state is safe. He further urges members of the public to desist from spreading unverified information that may cause panic, and instead use the official command’s emergency lines to report suspicious activity.

“Citizens are also encouraged to remain calm, go about their lawful business while monitoring their environment, and cooperate fully with law enforcement personnel,” the statement added.
