The Kaduna State Police Command has confirmed the alleged killing of Naval Officer, Lieutenant Commander M. Buba, who was reportedly attacked by an unidentified assailant in the early hours of Sunday at approximately 4:50 AM.
DSP Mansir Hassan, the command’s spokesperson, provided details about the incident during a press briefing in Kaduna. According to Hassan, Lt.-Cdr. Buba was assaulted while near the Kawo flyover, where he was attacked and robbed of his mobile phones.
According to him, eyewitness accounts suggest that the assailant used a knife during the attack, which resulted in multiple stab wounds to the Naval officer. As the suspect attempted to flee the scene, he was confronted by a group of enraged bystanders who managed to overpower him, leading to a violent confrontation that resulted in his death at the hands of the mob.
Despite the chaos, Lt.-Cdr. Buba was quickly rushed to Manaal Hospital for emergency medical attention. Unfortunately, despite the efforts of the medical staff, he was pronounced dead upon arrival by the attending physician.

In a related note, Mr. Suleiman Dahiru, who reportedly tried to assist the injured officer during the altercation, sustained injuries himself, suffering a stab wound to the hand. He is currently receiving treatment for his injuries.
DSP Hassan further stated, “The body of the late Lt.-Cdr. Buba has been deposited at the mortuary of the 44 Nigerian Army Reference Hospital for further examination.” He also revealed that Buba had been traveling in his black Toyota vehicle, bearing registration number APP-745HT, at the time of the incident.
Authorities have initiated investigations and ongoing monitoring in the broader area as efforts continue to apprehend any accomplices involved in this violent crime. The police encourage anyone with additional information to come forward to assist in the investigation.
