The suspects, aged between 18 and 36 years, were arrested for their alleged involvement in gangsterism, violent attacks, unlawful possession of offensive weapons, and the sale and consumption of prohibited substances.
They were identified as Aliyu Idris, Mukhtar Abubakar, Amir Dan Asabe, Joel Timothy, Isaac Isah, Hassan Salisu, Nyon Ayuba, Saidu Musa, Adamu Yau, Adamu Muhammed, and Nasiru Bala.
During the operation, police recovered a cache of dangerous weapons, including knives, daggers, machetes, and cutlasses allegedly used by the suspects in carrying out criminal activities.
The recovery of the weapons is seen as a major step in preventing further violence and restoring public confidence in security efforts within the affected communities.
For years, residents of parts of Jimeta and Yola have expressed concerns over the activities of Shilla gangs, which have often been linked to street violence, intimidation, theft, and drug-related crimes.
The latest arrests are therefore being viewed as part of a broader strategy by the police to dismantle criminal networks and strengthen security across the state.
Speaking on the development, Commissioner of Police, Kabir Umar Hassan commended the police officers who carried out the raids for their professionalism and dedication.
He reiterated the command’s commitment to sustaining the ongoing offensive against gangsterism, thuggery, and other forms of violent crime.
The police chief warned criminal elements operating within the state to abandon their unlawful activities or face the full weight of the law.
He assured residents that the command would continue to deploy intelligence-driven operations aimed at protecting lives and property.
Following the conclusion of investigations, the suspects were arraigned before a competent court for prosecution.
The court subsequently ordered their remand in a correctional custodial centre pending further legal proceedings.
