The Kano State Police Command has arrested a 25-year-old suspected kidnapper who abducted a two-year-old boy in the state.
Spokesperson of the command, SP Abdullahi Kiyawa, in a statement on Saturday, said the suspect identified as Abubakar Musa, from Rijiyar Lemo Quarters in the state was arrested on December 25 2024, following a sustained follow-up and intelligence-led operation.
The police disclosed that the suspect kidnapped two-year-old, Al’amin Ahmad Garba and demanding a ransom of N50 million for the victim’s release.
“The victim was rescued from a house in Unguwar Liman, Dorayi Quarters, Kano, where he was hidden for three days,” the police statement added.

SP Kiyawa also noted that after rescuing the victim, he was rushed to the Murtala Mohammed Specialist Hospital for medical attention and later reunited with his family.
While assuring the public of the command’s commitment to ensuring the safety and security of all in the state, he said the suspect was charged to Magistrate Court 25 Nomansland on January 3, 2025, and is currently on remand.
He however called on Kano residents to continue supporting the police by providing useful information that can lead to the arrest of criminals in the state.
