The Cross River State Police Command has arrested two men over alleged vandalism and theft of facilities belonging to Akamkpa Quarry Limited, also known as Sterling Global, in Akamkpa Local Government Area of the state.
The suspects were arrested by operatives of the Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU), Sector 2, Akamkpa/Ugep, during a separate operation following credible intelligence on suspected vandalism in the area.

The Cross River State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Eitokpah Sunday Akata, disclosed the arrests in a statement, saying the operation was conducted in Akamkpa Local Government Area.
According to the statement, the suspects were identified as 27-year-old Kelvin Ignatius and 29-year-old Arnold Okon, both from Obung Village.
The two men were arrested around Nsang Junction on Thursday after police operatives received credible intelligence about suspected vandals operating in the area.
Police said three long iron poles suspected to have been stolen from the quarry were recovered from the suspects during the operation.

During preliminary questioning, the suspects allegedly admitted stealing the poles and disclosed their involvement in the theft of other property belonging to the company.
The items reportedly include diesel, engine oil and truck tyres.
The police command said investigations were ongoing to recover the remaining stolen property and identify other individuals allegedly involved in the vandalism and theft.
Police Intensify Investigation
The Commissioner of Police, Cross River State Command, CP Ajo Geoffrey Ordue, commended the VCRU operatives for the arrest and recovery of the suspected stolen property.
Ordue directed the investigating teams to intensify intelligence gathering, recover the outstanding exhibits and ensure that anyone found culpable is brought to justice.
The command also appealed to residents to provide credible information about suspicious activities, particularly around critical infrastructure, quarry sites and other industrial facilities.
