The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested two suspected kidnappers allegedly responsible for terrorising residents of Sarau Belel community in Maiha Local Government Area of the state.
The arrest followed a complaint lodged on December 26, 2025, by Emmanuel Daniel of Sagal Village, Sarau Belel. Daniel reported that he had been threatened with abduction by two individuals who claimed to be behind the kidnapping of his younger brother, Joshua Daniel, in November 2024.
According to a police statement, the Commissioner of Police in Adamawa State, CP Dankombo Morris, ordered an immediate response upon receiving the report. A coordinated operation led by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in Sarau Belel subsequently led to the arrest of the suspects.
The suspects were identified as Sunday Yakubu, 36, and Daniel Yakubu, 38, both from Konjoli Village in Maiha Local Government Area.

Police sources said the suspects confessed during interrogation and are currently providing useful information to aid ongoing investigations.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police has directed the Command’s Anti-Kidnapping Unit to take over the case to ensure a comprehensive investigation and effective prosecution in line with the law.
The Adamawa State Police Command reiterated its commitment to the protection of lives and property and appealed to members of the public to continue supporting security agencies with timely and credible information.
