The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has clampdown on vehicle theft and related crimes, with the arrest of suspected criminals and the recovery of four stolen vehicles in separate operations across Abuja and other states.
In a statement issued on Saturday, the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, confirmed that operatives of the command arrested suspects involved in car theft, vehicle tampering, and illegal resale of stolen auto parts.
The police said one of the cases involved a report filed by Mrs. Okanemhen at Jabi Police Division on July 23, 2025.
She alleged that her driver, identified as Abubakar Nuhu from Magana Village in Toro Local Government Area of Bauchi State, absconded with her trailer with registration number GWA 40 XC) after delivering cement at a factory in Obajana, Kogi State.
The suspect had carefully removed three tracking devices installed on the trailer, but was unaware of a fourth hidden tracker that remained active.
Acting on this lead, police operatives tracked the vehicle and recovered it in Kaduna State, where Nuhu was subsequently arrested.
Investigations revealed that the suspect had erased all personal identification inscriptions on the trailer with black paint in a bid to prevent tracing.

In a separate operation, the Anti-Car Theft Section and Scorpion Squad of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) recovered three vehicles stolen at different times within Abuja.
The recovered vehicles include a Toyota Hilux (white, registration number YAB 891 EL); Toyota Camry (ash colour, already butchered) and Toyota Corolla “bank model” (butchered)
While the Hilux was recovered intact, the Toyota Camry and Corolla had been dismantled and sold in parts as spare parts or scrap.
Two suspects, Ikechukwu Iwueze and his accomplice Amobi, an ex-convict, were arrested for allegedly receiving and reselling parts of the stolen cars.
Both suspects reportedly confessed to the crime and will be charged to court after investigations are concluded.
The Commissioner of Police, Ajao Adewale, commended the officers for their swift and coordinated operations.
He urged residents to install functional vehicle tracking devices and conduct proper background checks on employees, particularly drivers and staff in sensitive positions, through the police before engagement.
The command also appealed to residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities via its emergency lines: 08032003913 and 07057337653.
