The Lagos State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of a suspect involved in the assault of Yetunde Amole, a woman seen in a viral video being attacked near the Oriental Hotel area.
A statement released on Wednesday by the state Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, said that the incident took place on April 7 at about 2:00 pm, when the suspect, identified as Friday Onu, was caught attempting to steal Amole’s car battery.
He asserted that in an act of courage, Amole tried to prevent the theft, leading to a physical assault by the suspect.
“Responding swiftly, officers from the Maroko Police Division apprehended Onu shortly after the altercation and took him into custody.
“However, before his scheduled arraignment, the suspect reportedly fell ill and was transferred to Falomo Police Hospital, where he remains under close medical supervision,” the statement added.

The command also urged members of the public to continue cooperating with law-enforcement authorities to ensure the safety and protection of all residents.
