The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested a 32-year-old man, Anas Dauda Anas of Jalingo B area, Lamorde Ward, in Mubi South Local Government Area, after a viral video showed him brandishing an AK-47 rifle and issuing threatening remarks.
According to a statement issued over the weekend by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, the suspect appeared in the viral clip holding an AK-47 rifle believed to be loaded with three magazines.
He was also heard making disturbing statements and allegedly boasting that he could sell or lease the weapon for money.
The police said the video, which circulated widely on social media, sparked panic among residents of Mubi and neighboring communities.

“Upon receiving the report, the Commissioner of Police, Dankombo Morris, immediately directed the Divisional Police Officer of Mubi South Division to trace and arrest the suspect. Police operatives swiftly acted on the directive and apprehended Dauda at a remote location in Mubi town,” the statement read.
The suspect is currently in custody, while police investigations continue to recover the firearm seen in the footage and determine its origin.
The Commissioner has also ordered the deputy commissioner of police in charge of the state criminal investigation department (SCID), Yola, to take over the case for a discreet investigation and prosecution.
The commissioner reaffirmed the Command’s determination to maintain peace and security across the state. He further warned residents against engaging in acts capable of causing public disorder or violating the law.
