The Ogun State Police Command has arrested a man, Gandonu Lowe, for allegedly attempting to escape with the corpse of his wife, which was tied to a motorcycle and concealed inside a sack.
Lowe, a resident of Omolende Village via Idogo in the Yewa South Local Government Area, was reportedly intercepted while trying to flee the community after suspicion arose that he might have killed his wife.
The Command’s spokesperson, CSP Omolola Odutola, confirmed the incident in a statement on Thursday.
According to the statement, the Divisional Police Officer of the Ilaro Division received credible intelligence around 1:05 p.m. on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, alerting officers to the suspect’s suspicious movement.
“Acting swiftly, police operatives intercepted the suspect, and a sack tied to the back of his motorcycle was uncovered. The content was discovered to be the corpse of an adult female, later identified as his wife.”
Police said the body bore visible marks of violence and bleeding around the neck, indicating possible foul play. A blood-stained cutlass was also recovered.
