The Kano State Police Command has arrested two notorious armed robbery suspects and recovered a large quantity of illicit drugs worth over N42 million in a major operation within the state.
Spokesperson of the command, SP Abdullahi Kiyawa in a statement, announced that the suspects, Nura Sani, a 20-year-old male from Zango Town, Bauchi State, and Ibrahim Lawan, a 35-year-old male from Katsina State were apprehended in connection with a daring robbery incident that occurred on September 14, 2025, at Tokarawa Quarters.
He explained that during the operation, the suspects, armed with dangerous weapons, stormed a residence and made away with a Mercedes Benz GLK valued at N26.5 million, along with phones and other valuables.
In a separate operation, police operatives recovered 540 packets of suspected pregabalin capsules valued at N40.5 million in Jalli Village, Dawakin Tofa Local Government Area.
“The command also intercepted two suspects on September 30, 2025, at approximately 11:15 am. A surveillance team arrested Alhaji Isyaku Babayo of K/Mazugal and Mohd Ahmed of Dorayi Babba at the Trailer Park in Dangauro.

“The suspects were found in possession of seven bags of suspected liquid intoxicant, commonly known as akuskura, containing 2,450 bottles with an estimated value of N2.45 million,” Kiyawa explained.
He further noted that the command has handed over all recovered cases, including suspects and contraband worth over N120 million, comprising suspected tramadol, pregabalin, and cannabis sativa, to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) Kano State Command for further investigation.
He quoted the state Commissioner, Ibrahim Bakori, to have commended the bravery and professionalism of the officers involved in the operations and assured that efforts are ongoing to trace and arrest other suspects at large to recover all stolen items.
He further appreciated the unwavering support and cooperation of the public, reiterating the command’s commitment to working together to build a safer and more secure Kano State.
