The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested four suspects allegedly involved in the production and distribution of fake herbicides in the state capital.
Spokesperson of the command, Ahmed Wakil, disclosed the arrest of the suspects in a statement.
He disclosed that the suspects were caught following credible intelligence received by the monitoring unit of the command.
Wakil said the suspects were arrested on May 3, 2025, at about 1:30 pm, when detectives raided a residential building in the Unguwan Liman area of Bauchi metropolis.
The suspects arrested are Usman Suleman, of Karofin Madaki; Ahmad Musa, of Wuntin Dada and Muhammad Nuhu, of Fadaman Mada.
During the raid, police officers, according to the statement, discovered the suspects actively engaged in the illegal production of counterfeit herbicides.

Items recovered from the crime scene include 26 cartons labeled Force Up, an empty carton labeled Gobora, two plastic drums containing suspicious liquid substances, two buckets, and 100 empty one-litre containers of Force Up.
Also seized were sealing tapes, scissors, super glue, leather materials, charcoal, welding spoons, and a charcoal stove.
Further investigations, the police said, led to the arrest of another suspect, 36-year-old Muhammad Muhammad of Fadaman Mada, who was allegedly linked to the illicit operation.
Wakil stated that all the suspects are currently in custody and that investigations are ongoing to dismantle the counterfeit chemical network and prevent future occurrences.
The police reiterated their commitment to safeguarding public health and agricultural integrity in the state.
