Police Arrest 202 Suspects, Impound 25 Vehicles In Delta

The Delta State Police Command has arrested 202 suspects during a coordinated raid on criminal hideouts and black spots across the Asaba metropolis.

The operation, which took place on Saturday, was led by the deputy commissioner of police in charge of the Department of Operations following intelligence gathered by the State Intelligence Department (SID).

According to the command, the intelligence-led raid targeted identified black spots, brothels and suspected illicit drug dens within Asaba.

A statement on Sunday by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, said 202 suspects, comprising 102 males and 100 females, were arrested for alleged offences including operating brothels, possession and sale of suspected illicit drugs and other related crimes.

The command also impounded 25 vehicles, tricycles and motorcycles for various traffic violations.

The state Commissioner of Police, Yemi Oyeniyi reiterated the command’s commitment to intelligence-led policing and sustained operations against criminal elements across the state.

He assured residents that the police would continue to intensify enforcement operations to deny criminals safe havens while urging members of the public to support security agencies with credible and timely information.
