The Lagos State Police Command said its operatives have arrested two Pakistani nationals for their involvement in a vicious kidnapping ring.

It was learnt that the operation was launched following a distress call, received at the Ikeja Division of the Lagos State Police Command on Wednesday, March 5, 2025, regarding the abduction of a 48-year-old Pakistani national within Ikeja.

Police Public Relations Officer in Lagos State, Benjamin Hundeyin, said in a statement on Thursday, that swift action by the anti-crime patrol team led to the rescue of the victim, and the arrest of two suspects, identified as Roman Gull, and Aftab Ahmad, both Pakistani nationals.

He revealed that five other suspects escaped, and are currently at large.

“Preliminary investigations revealed that the arrested suspects, along with five others, lured the victim from his base in Kano to Lagos under the guise of offering him a job as a chef.

“The suspects arranged the victim’s flight to Lagos, and accommodated him in a hotel on February 28, 2025. The following day, the group over-powered the victim, tied him up, and demanded a ransom of N50million from his employer in Kano, threatening to kill him if the payment was not made.

“The employer paid N1million to buy time, and subsequently, alerted the police.

“During the operation, the police recovered the suspects’ operational vehicle, a grey Toyota Camry, as well as the victim’s belongings, including $2, 000 in cash, three ATM cards, a green card, a driver’s license, and a National Identification Number (NIN) slip.

“Efforts are ongoing to apprehend the remaining suspects, and bring them to justice upon the conclusion of the investigation. The rescued victim is reported to be in good condition and has reconnected with his family,” Hundeyin said.

The statement stated that the state Commissioner of Police, Olohundare Jimoh, praised the officers of the Ikeja Division for their swift and effective response.

He also reassured residents, and visitors to Lagos State of the command’s unwavering commitment to ensuring their safety, and security at all times.
