In a bold move to strengthen security and combat rising threats in rural communities, the Governor of Plateau State has announced a strategic partnership with Briech UAS Limited to deploy state-of-the-art surveillance drones for intelligence gathering and rapid response operations.

The governor made this revelation today, April 4, 2025, via his official X handle, emphasizing that this initiative marks a groundbreaking approach to tackling insecurity in the state. Speaking at the unveiling of Briech UAS drones and missiles in Kuje, Federal Capital Territory (FCT), alongside Chief of Defense Staff, General Christopher G. Musa underscored the vital role of cutting-edge technology in modern security operations.

He commended the Nigerian Armed Forces for their unwavering commitment to national security and expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his continued support in protecting lives and property across Plateau State. He also urged the military to collaborate with local manufacturers in producing military-grade surveillance equipment tailored to Nigeria’s unique security challenges.

According to the governor, Plateau State is steadily reclaiming its reputation as the “Home of Peace and Tourism,” despite past security setbacks. He credited this progress to the effective integration of technology, with Briech UAS playing a pivotal role in the state’s security framework. The deployment of these advanced surveillance drones has significantly improved security response times and operational efficiency.

Highlighting his administration’s top priority for the year, the governor stressed the urgent need to ensure the safe return of farmers to their fields. He emphasized that achieving this goal requires comprehensive security coverage, both in the air and on the ground, to protect farming communities from criminal attacks.

With the latest surveillance technologies now at the state’s disposal, he expressed confidence that security forces will be better equipped to combat threats and dismantle criminal networks. He urged security personnel to maximize the use of these technological advancements, stating that their proper deployment could be a game-changer in securing Plateau State and restoring lasting peace.
