Oseloka Obi, son of Labour Party’s presidential candidate Peter Obi, has finally addressed the wave of online controversies, gossip, and false narratives targeted at him, declaring that he will no longer remain silent as political opponents attempt to use him as a pawn against his father.
In a statement, Oseloka revealed that although he has consistently ignored malicious social media attacks in the past, the relentless spread of falsehoods and doctored stories has reached a point where he must set the record straight. “Because of my father’s involvement in Nigerian politics, there has been a persistent curiosity, and at times, malicious obsession with me. Why? I do not know,” he wrote, adding that he has no social media accounts and rarely corrects false claims about him.
He strongly condemned the practice of recycling innocent photos of him and twisting them into scandalous stories. “These are not revelations. They are not exposés. They are simply misrepresentations; fiction spun from pictures,” he said.
Oseloka also spoke candidly about his personal life, clarifying that he is an actor and filmmaker, not a politician. While acknowledging that his father may have expected him to pursue business or economics, he explained that he chose his own path in the arts, a career he has built without relying on nepotism. “I was raised to know that my father’s wealth is not mine, and that I must build my own life,” he emphasized.
Dismissing claims that his personal choices have political undertones, Oseloka called such insinuations “flawed and childish,” noting that his professional roles in theatre and film are often misused by critics to fuel propaganda.

But beyond defending his personal reputation, Oseloka shifted attention to the country’s pressing issues, urging Nigerians to stop being distracted by gossip. “Nigeria has far greater issues than idle speculation about what Peter Obi’s son is doing. Our nation still struggles with insecurity, a weakened economy, crumbling infrastructure, failing healthcare, and politicians who steal from the people,” he declared.
Expressing unwavering support for his father, Oseloka described Peter Obi as a man of integrity and the right leader to take Nigeria out of its current hardships. “My father has my vote, not because he is my father, but because he is the right man for the job,” he affirmed.
He ended his statement with a passionate appeal to Nigerians to focus on the future rather than manufactured scandals. “If others wish to go low, invent scandals, or attack me to wound him, they are free to do so. But we will go high, and we will continue to focus on the future of Nigeria,” Oseloka wrote.
