A call for Governor Agbu Kefas, of Taraba State to distance himself from anointing any of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) aspirants jostling for the forthcoming by-election in the state has been made by the party’s youths group in Jalingo/Yorro/Zing federal constituency.
The call was made yesterday by the group, called on the leadership of the party to as a matter of urgency resolve the internal wrangling that is presently bedevilling the party.
Making the call in a jointly signed statement by its leadership, Cosmos Zorai and Ado Adamu Lapu, they urged the governor not to bow to the pressure of anointing any of the aspirants.
“We wish to call on the youths friendly Governor Dr. Agbu Kefas not bow to pressure to anoint any aspirant ahead of the primary election of the party for the forthcoming by-election in our state. ”

While encouraging the aspirants to consult widely and allow the delegates to make their choice as to who should fly the party’s ticket, the youths group, as made known by them called on the party to quickly resolve the internal wrangling in the State Chapter of the party “so that the party can go into the election without issues that might affect the party’s chances.”
The youths who affirmed their readiness and determination to ensure the victory of the party in the constituency and in the state at large, pleaded with the governor “to maintain neutrality and allow internal democracy to work in the party”.
Believing that the governor will not indulge in acts capable of denting his image, they said “we are sure he will not interfere with the process leading to the primary election of our great party.”
The position of the aforementioned federal constituency became vacant following the demise of the elected member representing the constituency, Samaila Maihanchi, shortly after the 2023 general elections.
