The Rivers State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has appealed to President Bola Tinubu to unfreeze the federal allocation the state.

The party made the appeal on Tuesday, at a press conference in Port Harcourt, insisting that
withholding the allocation will expose civil servants in the state to untold hardship, and will be a call to anarchy.

“What it simply means is shutting down governance in the state, denying citizens, including civil servants their livelihood. Remember, laws are made for men, and not men made for law.

“Therefore, we call you (our president), that in spite the Supreme Court judgment, you use your presidential powers to ensure that Rivers allocation is not seized.

“President Donald Trump demonstrated it in the United States when the Supreme Court ruled that Tikt- Tok be banned. Trump intervened using presidential powers, and today Tik Tok is operating in the United States,” the PDP said.

The party called on the state House of Assembly to embrace peace and work towards the full implementation of the Supreme Court judgment, including playing a key role in the forthcoming local government elections.

It further urged the lawmakers to accept the representation of the 2025 budget by the governor scheduled for March 19, 2025, and drop and or withdraw the impeachment notice to the governor and deputy governor.

The party pointed out that the impeachment notice was not part of the Supreme Court judgement and hence cannot bring progress to the State.

To the FCT Minister, Nyesom.Wike, PDP called on him to ensure peace in Rivers State and guarantee a good working relationship between the executive and legislative arms of government, which he enjoyed in his eight years as governor of the state

The party also urged Governor Fubara to pay less attention to the impeachment notice, stressing that it was not part of the Supreme Court judgement.

The party, however, tasked the governor to go ahead and ensure full implementation of the Supreme Court verdict by conducting the local government elections.

The party urged its supporters and Rivers people to continue to maintain peace and continue to trust the governor and keep faith with the state government.
