The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Rivers State has announced the suspension of its caretaker committee Chairman, Robinson Ewor.
Ewor has been publicly attacking Governor Siminalayi Fubara,.insisting that the governor must disclose full details of the agreement he had with the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Mnister, Nyesom Wike prior to the lifting of the emergency rule in the state
Ewor also accused Gov. Fubara of deceiving party leaders and supporters over the political crisis that engulfed the state, saying the governor falsely created the impression that he could wrest political control from Wike, only to later abandon the party.
He also alleged that party stakeholders were misled into believing the governor was prepared for a showdown with Wike, saying its leaders were left stranded “in the middle of a political sea” when Gov. Fubara defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in December 2025.
Ewor was recently seen with Wike during one of the latter’s ongoing “thank you” visits to local government areas in the state.
The party said Ewor had been suspended both as caretaker chairman and as a member of the PDP, saying his actions were capable of destroying the party in the oil-rich state.
The party stated that the Secretary of the Caretaker Committee in the state, Ogbam Ojimah, has assumed the position of chairman.
Ojimah disclosed this after the party’s emergency meeting in Port Harcourt on Sunday, pledging his loyalty to the Turaki-led PDP and noting that the FCT minister remained expelled.
He said that by his suspension, Ewor had relinquished his position for associating with Wike, who was recently expelled from the party.
Ojimah emphasised that the FCT minister had no right to interfere in the party’s affairs, saying the party in the state had distanced itself from all activities and recent utterances made by Ewor.
He said: “The caretaker committee of the Peoples Democratic Party, Rivers State chapter, after our meeting here today, the 3rd of January, 2026, hereby resolved as follows: that we disassociate ourselves from the press statement and public utterances credited to Dr Nname Robinson Ewor, the former chairman.
“That it is important to re-emphasise and remind the general public that Hon. Nyesom Wike has already been expelled from our party and therefore has no right to interfere in the affairs of the PDP.
