The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has revoked the land title of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Abuja’s Central Area over a longstanding ground rent debt of N7.6 million spanning from 2006 to 2025.
Addressing journalists, Chijioke Nwankwoeze, the FCTA Director of Land, dismissed PDP’s claims that multiple properties were affected. He clarified that only the Central Area land title was revoked, while the party’s national headquarters in Wuse Zone 5 remains untouched.
“The property in Wuse Zone 5, which serves as PDP’s national headquarters, does not belong to the party. It is owned by Mr. Samaila Ofi, who was served a revocation notice at his registered Kaduna address,” Nwankwoeze stated.
He further explained that Ofi acquired the property from Wadata and had it registered by assignment. However, the land had accumulated 28 years of unpaid ground rent amounting to N2.85 million.

The PDP is just one of 4,794 land title holders affected by the recent crackdown on unpaid ground rents. The FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, approved the revocations after defaulters failed to settle debts exceeding 10 years.
According to Lere Olayinka, the Minister’s Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media, 8,375 property owners collectively owe the government a staggering N6.97 billion in ground rents as of the end of 2024.
The revocations signal a major enforcement drive by the FCTA to reclaim debts and ensure compliance with land regulations in the nation’s capital.
