The State Youth Leader of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Imo State Chapter, Hon. Greg O. C. Nwadike has called on Governor Hope Uzodimma to stop the reckless and mindless killing of youths in Orlu area of the state by the state sponsored Ebubeagu security outfit.

Nwadike who made the call in a statement he issued Saturday condemned the recent carnage at the Orie Okporo Market in Orlu LGA allegedly caused by the Ebubeagu militia boys around the market last Friday.

He remarked that in the middle of the road, by the Omuma road junction were burnt motorcycles belonging to innocent Okada riders who used to stay at the junction forcing people to desert that area.

“Just about three weeks ago, I was at that same territory around 7.30 pm. I was very impressed at the night life that had returned around the axis. I noticed the Suya and Chicken roasting trading activities ongoing around the area. I saw people desperate to continue their happy lives and move on stronger than ever.

“I was also deeply impressed with the same scenario when I got to the Amaifeke-Owerri junction popularly called the “Banana Junction.” The night life, which has recently been boosted by the presence of solar lights on the newly reconstructed federal road was something to be cheerful about. I was greatly happy, more so, when no news of killings by UGM has been reported lately from my Orlu axis.

“The recent news, however, that the governor’s militia group known as Ebubeagu visited this peaceful Orie-Okporo market two days ago and murdered several people in cold blood is hereby condemned.”

The PDP Youth Leader hinted that he had severally insisted, both in writings and radio outings, that this group of killers should be interrogated about kidnappings, killings and criminal activities ongoing in hitherto peaceful Imo state.

He further disclosed that he had challenged the government of the day to allow our people to police our people, or allow the Nigeria Police Force to police the state and the people.

“These killer men brought from unknown areas do not value our people and our existences, therefore see our people as “enemies”. No enemy will protect his enemy.

“A situation where armed militia groups would come into a market and start shooting innocent traders without any known provocations around that spot is savagely cruel, crude and barbaric. This consistent inversion of Orlu by this killer squad who drums flings their bells, dances on our deserted homes and spits on our dead must stop now.

“Our Orlu Youths have deserted our land. Mothers and fathers have been made childless. Our houses, shops, motors and motor-cycles are being set ablaze just because crude hands with happy trigger fingers on blood-soaked eyes are here with us,” he added.

Nwadike thanked the Nigeria Army stationed around Orlu who he said were confirmed to have later come in defence of the people and helped in arresting and disarming the killer Ebubeagu gunmen who were said to be possessed and kitted with charms and fetish objects.

“Finally, and on behalf of Orlu and Imo youths, I call on the Imo state government to end all operations of Ebubeagu in Imo State. The police is so far doing well. Enough of the killings of Imo youths and innocent, defenceless and armless Orlu people. Our Orlu is already overflowing with the innocent blood of its people,” the PDP chieftain concluded.
