Parties in the sex scandal have resolved to settle the lingering court case between parents involved and management of Deeper Life High School, Akwa Ibom State.
Speaking in Uyo Akwa State capital on Sunday during the reconciliation between parents of the allegedly abused student identified as Don Davies and management of Deeper Life High School, the Lead Defence Council for the school, Barrister Taiwo Olati (SAN), said the judge who initiated the reconciliation had visited the school before both parties agreed to make peace.
“The Judge sought consent of the parties and a consent judgement was delivered because the parents and the school realized that students in the matter are the future of the society and there was need to follow the path of peace.” The Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) appreciated parents of the allegedly abused boy for their determination to settle the matter out of court.
He said the peace deal which was struck without financial cost to the school management and appreciated the parties for understanding the principle of peace.
He explained that it was necessary to put away conflict and negative publicity attracted by the incident and advised the school to put those things behind and forge ahead in the task of building responsible citizens for the future.
The mother of the alleged victim in the sex scandal, Mrs Deborah Archibong, said she had lost eight children in the past and did not take incident for granted when it concerns her only child. Deborah, who admitted that Deeper Life was the church she attended from childhood, stated that peace has reigned between her family and Church at last.

Her words: “Today, peace has reigned between Don Davies family and Deeper Life at large. God is awesome. Thank you very much. I have every reason to glorify God because some people’s children went to school and never came back . I thank God that my son is alive.”
However, Counsel to the applicant Barrister Sampson Awuche, appreciated all parties for accepting peace and ended the litigation . The school authority presented a parting gift to Don Davies and wished him well in his educational career.
