Residents of the Ugbomoro community, in the Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State, were thrown into panic this morning as police officers conducted a raid that disrupted the otherwise quiet neighbourhood.
The Trumpet gathered that the raid occurred around 11:00 a.m on Monday.
According to eyewitnesses, the incident involved officers deployed from the Delta State Police Headquarters in Asaba.
While the source described the scene as chaotic, with officers shouting indiscriminately, the gunfire sent residents scrambling for safety, with many fearing for their lives as the situation unfolded.

“I was inside my house when I heard the shouting and gunshots,” a resident who chose to remain anonymous told reporters. “We thought it was an attack. People were running everywhere.”
Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe told the Trumpet that the police were responding to a distress call.
He said: “it’s our constitutional duty to respond to distress and that’s what they went there to for.”
