The Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development, Rt. Hon. Abdullahi Ata, has urged young Nigerians to take advantage of the Renewed Hope Housing Project—a flagship initiative under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration aimed at empowering the next generation through affordable homeownership.
Speaking in Kano on Wednesday during a courtesy visit by the North West Youth Forum, the Minister emphasized that the time to transition from online complaints to real-world ownership is now. He said the government is offering young Nigerians a golden opportunity to become homeowners and actively participate in nation-building.
“The days of watching from the sidelines are over—our generation must build, own, and lead,” Ata declared.
The Renewed Hope Housing Project, launched in 2023, is part of the administration’s wider efforts to provide affordable housing, generate employment, and stimulate local economies. The initiative targets low- and middle-income earners, including young professionals, artisans, and informal sector workers, by offering accessible mortgage plans and rent-to-own options across all 36 states and the FCT.

“Youths can now apply through the Renewed Hope Housing portal at www.fmhud.gov.ng. The process is open, transparent, and built for your convenience. Don’t wait—apply now and encourage your peers to do the same,” the Minister said.
Rt. Hon. Ata also announced plans for a strategic partnership with the Ministry of Youth to expand nationwide awareness and access to the scheme. He stressed that the initiative is not just about housing—it’s about creating a future where every young Nigerian has a stake in the country’s prosperity.
The visiting North West Youth Forum, a coalition of youth groups from across the region, praised the Minister for his unwavering dedication to youth empowerment. Speaking on behalf of the delegation, Architect Bala Sani-Umar described Ata as a “father figure” and lauded his commitment to uniting and uplifting young people, irrespective of political affiliation.
The Forum also threw its weight behind President Tinubu’s leadership, urging fellow Nigerian youths to embrace the administration’s reform-driven agenda.
With thousands of housing units already under development nationwide, the federal government is positioning Nigerian youths at the heart of its urban development plans. As the digital application portal gains traction, the message is clear: the future belongs to those who are ready to own it.
