Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has expressed his ambition to return to the classroom and earn a university degree after bringing his football career to an end, describing education as a lifelong pursuit.

The Galatasaray forward made the revelation during an interview with reporters, where he reflected on the importance of learning both in school and through life’s experiences.
According to the 27-year-old, while football has given him global recognition, he believes academic achievement remains a personal goal worth pursuing.
“As an adult, not everything I learned in school. There are some kinds of life lessons you encounter through life’s journey,” Osimhen said.
He noted that the lifespan of a professional football career is limited, making it necessary for players to prepare for life after retirement.
“For me, it would be an amazing thing to also try to get a degree, which I’m still considering because football, you won’t play for so long, probably 20 or 25 years, and then you’re done,” he added.

Osimhen explained that although he has several opportunities to rely on after hanging up his boots, obtaining a university degree would be a meaningful accomplishment and a way to motivate younger people.
“In as much as I have a lot of things to fall back to when I’m done, I think it’s still important for me to set an example and a standard for the younger generation.”
The Nigerian international also encouraged young people who had to suspend their education because of financial hardship or other challenges not to give up on their academic aspirations.
“Even though you dropped out due to some kind of challenges you have, it’s something you can always go back to. School is always there.”
While Osimhen did not disclose when he intends to enrole in a university or the course he hopes to study, his comments have been widely applauded by fans, many of whom described his message as a strong reminder that education remains valuable regardless of professional success.
