Troops of the Joint Task Force North East Operation HADIN KAI have intercepted a suspicious vehicle conveying about ₦37 million in cash and several mobile phones suspected to be linked to terrorist financing in Borno State.
The interception, carried out by troops at the Forward Operating Base Chabbal Checkpoint, is part of ongoing military efforts to disrupt financial and logistical networks sustaining insurgent groups in the North East.
In a statement issued by the Media Information Officer, Lt. Col. Sani Uba, the vehicle with five occupants was stopped during routine patrols along routes known for terrorist movement and supply operations.
According to the statement, the recovery of the large sum of money represents a major breakthrough in dismantling financial channels believed to be supporting terrorist logistics and operational activities across the theatre.
In a related development, troops of Operation HADIN KAI repelled coordinated attacks by insurgents on Pulka and Mandaragirau communities in Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State.
During the engagements, a senior Boko Haram commander identified as Abou Aisha was neutralised after sustaining a gunshot injury to the neck. Troops also recovered weapons and other equipment from the fleeing insurgents.

The military confirmed that there were no casualties among its personnel, although some members of the Civilian Joint Task Force supporting the operation lost their lives. Injured soldiers were evacuated through the Air Component of Operation HADIN KAI and Nigerian Army aviation platforms.
Lt. Col. Uba stated that the latest operations form part of a broader strategy to choke terrorist supply chains and restrict insurgents’ freedom of movement.
He explained that following recent defensive successes in Pulka and Mandaragirau, troops transitioned into what he described as logistics strangulation operations designed to cripple terrorist networks operating in the region.
Between February 14 and 16, terrorists reportedly launched attacks from the Sambisa Forest axis targeting Pulka and Mandaragirau. Troops engaged them in sustained firefights, forcing the attackers to retreat.
Follow-up clearance operations along the Kimba axis uncovered bloodstains, shallow graves and abandoned materials, suggesting heavy casualties on the part of the insurgents and the evacuation of wounded fighters.
The Military High Command commended the courage and professionalism of Operation HADIN KAI personnel, noting that the failed attacks indicate mounting pressure on terrorist elements in the North East.
The armed forces reaffirmed their commitment to dismantling Boko Haram and ISWAP networks, protecting communities and restoring stability to the region.
